What is the Role of Biophysics in Drug Development and Drug Discovery?
In this episode, I speak with Dr. Thomas Schubert, CEO of 2bind, a provider of biophysical outsourcing solutions for the pharmaceutical.
Dr. Schubert discusses the role of biophysics in drug development and the importance of outsourcing in the pharmaceutical industry. Biophysics is that branch of knowledge that applies the principles of physics and chemistry and the methods of mathematical analysis and computer modeling to biological systems, with the ultimate goal of understanding at a fundamental level the structure, dynamics, interactions, and, ultimately, the function of biological systems.
This knowledge can be used to design and develop new drugs that target specific molecules and biological processes, leading to improved treatments for various diseases. Dr. Thomas Schubert received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry in 2012 from the University of Regensburg. Dr. Schubert joined 2bind in 2012 and was called for the CEO position in 2013. Dr. Schubert received the degree Betriebswirt (business economist) in 2014.
